Rent and letting scams
Be aware that scamers and fraudsters operate in the flat to rent market. If you are dealing direct with the Landlord and not a well established agent with an Office, be on your guard!.
A few do's and don'ts'
Don't pay cash deposits, never use Western Union, always meet the Landlord in person at the property, check the Landlord has a land line phone number (call him on it), and office or home address that you can check.
If the rent is to low then it is a scam. Landlords are astute investors and they do not let properties below the market. Any genuine landlord will ask for references and provide you with a tenancy agreement. Seek advice if you are unsure. Please contact info@exceldocklands.co.uk for free advice about any property advertised on exceldocklands.co.uk we do check that listings are from UK based users, but this is no guarantee the listing is not a scam.
Trust your gut feelings about the Landlord. Its a sad fact that the scamer Landlord will be very keen to get his hands on your cash, and will shower you with pleasant complements.
A fool and their cash are easily parted "Don't be a fool".
